My BTMA | BTTA feature is all about taking a look at the movies and tv shows that have been adapted from the books that we love so much!  This post will share with you my first impressions, if I would recommend it, and my overall forecast for the future of the show or movie series. In a nutshell, if I thought it was it a hit or miss.

​Those of us who went to see the Mortal Instruments movie, had the general consensus that it sucked. Badly. Personally, I felt that the actors didn't match the books characters and the plot was held together by a thread. Very disappointing. On the plus side, it wasn't nearly as dreadful as The Vampire Academy or the Beautiful Creatures movie adaptations, but let's save those for another conversation. Lucky for Cassandra Clare, her books were once again picked up and given another chance to redeem themselves, this time on the small screen. As Aaliyah's song lyrics of "Try Again" say, "If at first you don't succeed, dust yourself off and try again..." 

As I mentioned earlier, presently no plans have been made to continue on with the series so who knows what they were originally thinking when they filmed the pilot. I guess we'll know soon enough if the WIGS network will decide to continue on.

The "Delirium" pilot will only be available on Hulu and WIGS for 24 days, beginning this past Friday, June 20. So if you're curious and want to see it, do so before it's gone.

First let me say that this book was never on my radar to read let alone listen to on audio.  I was looking for another audio book to borrow, but the one I wanted had a million and one holds on it so I searched for something readily available. Because I really enjoy TVD television show, I decided to give the book a try.

Sadly there wasn't much that I liked about the story.  The fact that I couldn't stop myself from comparing it to the TV show, probably was part of the problem.  I don't think I could enjoy the story as it is.  I guess that's the problem with reading a book after watching it's counterpart, whether it's a TV show or movie.

What I was able to enjoy is the narrator.  I liked the fact that she sort of sounds just like the actress that plays Elena on the TV show. Not exactly, but close. That was a pleasant surprise.

I've had this book on my shelf for a long time now. I picked  up books one and two of this series from a charity used book sale last year. I'd heard a few good things about this author, so I thought I'd give the series a try.  I'm glad I did.  

In all honesty, I only recently got motivated to read this book because I inadvertently watched most of the first episode of the new show on the Syfy channel, also called Bitten. All the sudden midway through the episode I thought, wait, I have this book! So I promptly stopped watching the show and picked up Bitten. Having finished the book and caught up on all the episodes, I can tell that one season will be equal to one book. So far the TV series is pretty good and for the most part it follows the book pretty closely. But who know how long that similarity will last.  I've included the video preview in case you're curious.

Back to the book.  I must admit, this book was a slow start for me.  It was so slow that I was starting to question the high ratings. I wondered if I was reading the same book!  But, in the end,  I'm so very glad that I pushed through. The payoff was worth it.  I finished the last third of the book in a sprint. I stayed up reading until 1 am to finish.
