Hey friends, This is my 4th TBR book jar draw video! For those that don't know, TBR means, "to be read". The point of this is to read books that are physically sitting on my shelf that I haven't gotten to yet. Do you have you're own TBR Jar? If so, please share, I'd love to see what you've been reading. Happy Reading, ~Tamara On a mobile device? Watch the coordinating video here! | |

Video Review: Frozen (Heart of Dread #1), by Melissa de la Cruz, Michael Johnston (TBR Jar #3)10/13/2014 Publisher: Putnam Juvenile Release Date: September 17, 2013 Format: Paperback Pages: 336 Source: Publisher via Goodreads First Reads Genre: YA Fantasy, YA Dystopia Review Date: Recorded October, 2014 Rating: 2 bookmarks Synopsis: Welcome to New Vegas, a city once covered in bling, now blanketed in ice. Like much of the destroyed planet, the place knows only one temperature—freezing. But some things never change. The diamond in the ice desert is still a 24-hour hedonistic playground and nothing keeps the crowds away from the casino floors, never mind the rumors about sinister sorcery in its shadows. At the heart of this city is Natasha Kestal, a young blackjack dealer looking for a way out. Like many, she's heard of a mythical land simply called “the Blue.” They say it’s a paradise, where the sun still shines and the waters are turquoise. More importantly, it’s a place where Nat won’t be persecuted, even if her darkest secret comes to light. But passage to the Blue is treacherous, if not impossible, and her only shot is to bet on a ragtag crew of mercenaries led by a cocky runner named Ryan Wesson to take her there. Danger and deceit await on every corner, even as Nat and Wes find themselves inexorably drawn to each other. But can true love survive the lies? Fiery hearts collide in this fantastic tale of the evil men do and the awesome power within us all.
Publisher: Ballantine Books Release Date: September 10, 2013 Format: Paperback Pages: 331 Source: Publisher Genre: Historical Fiction Review Date: Recorded July, 2014 Rating: 4 bookmarks Synopsis: Twelve-year-old William Eng, a Chinese-American boy, has lived at Seattle’s Sacred Heart Orphanage ever since his mother’s listless body was carried away from their small apartment five years ago. On his birthday—or rather, the day the nuns designate as his birthday—William and the other orphans are taken to the historical Moore Theatre, where William glimpses an actress on the silver screen who goes by the name of Willow Frost. Struck by her features, William is convinced that the movie star is his mother, Liu Song. Determined to find Willow, and prove his mother is still alive, William escapes from Sacred Heart with his friend Charlotte. The pair navigates the streets of Seattle, where they must not only survive, but confront the mysteries of William’s past and his connection to the exotic film star. The story of Willow Frost, however, is far more complicated than the Hollywood fantasy William sees onscreen. Shifting between the Great Depression and the 1920s, Songs of Willow Frost takes readers on an emotional journey of discovery. Jamie Ford’s sweeping book will resonate with anyone who has ever longed for the comforts of family and a place to call home. Publisher: Putnam Adult Release Date: January 7, 2014 Format: Paperback Pages: 336 Source: Publisher Genre: Romantic Suspense Review Date: Recorded March, 2014 Rating: 3 bookmarks Synopsis: It’s been thirteen years since Lucy Sheridan was in Summer River. The last time she visited her aunt Sara there, as a teenager, she’d been sent home suddenly after being dragged out of a wild party—by the guy she had a crush on, just to make it more embarrassing. Obviously Mason Fletcher—only a few years older but somehow a lot more of a grown-up—was the overprotective type who thought he had to come to her rescue. Now, returning after her aunt’s fatal car accident, Lucy is learning there was more to the story than she realized at the time. Mason had saved her from a very nasty crime that night—and soon afterward, Tristan, the cold-blooded rich kid who’d targeted her, disappeared mysteriously, his body never found. A lot has changed in thirteen years. Lucy now works for a private investigation firm as a forensic genealogist, while Mason has quit the police force to run a successful security firm with his brother—though he still knows his way around a wrench when he fills in at his uncle’s local hardware store. Even Summer River has changed, from a sleepy farm town into a trendy upscale spot in California’s wine country. But Mason is still a protector at heart, a serious (and seriously attractive) man. And when he and Lucy make a shocking discovery inside Sara’s house, and some of Tristan’s old friends start acting suspicious, Mason’s quietly fierce instincts kick into gear. He saved Lucy once, and he’ll save her again. But this time, she insists on playing a role in her own rescue . Hey friends, I decided to make a TJB book jar to get through some of the books on my TBR shelf. For those that don't know, TBR means, "to be read". The frequency of the draws and reviews are unknown at this time, but I'm looking to do it either once a month or every other month for the remainder of 2014. After that, who knows. I'll do this for as long as I can and hopefully I won't get bored with it too soon. As I said in my video these are not books that I "want to read" listed on Goodreads, but they are physical books sitting on my shelf.
