Synopsis: Former piano prodigy Nastya Kashnikov wants two things: to get through high school without anyone learning about her past and to make the boy who took everything from her—her identity, her spirit, her will to live—pay.

Josh Bennett’s story is no secret: every person he loves has been taken from his life until, at seventeen years old, there is no one left. Now all he wants is be left alone and people allow it because when your name is synonymous with death, everyone tends to give you your space.

Everyone except Nastya, the mysterious new girl at school who starts showing up and won’t go away until she’s insinuated herself into every aspect of his life. But the more he gets to know her, the more of an enigma she becomes. As their relationship intensifies and the unanswered questions begin to pile up, he starts to wonder if he will ever learn the secrets she’s been hiding—or if he even wants to.

Disclaimer: I received this ebook last year courtesy of the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

The Sea of Tranquility is thought provoking, sad and hopeful all at once. This is the story or Emilia who reinvents herself as Nastya after she experiences a horrific life altering event.  Not only is it Nastya’s story, its Josh’s too. First as a boy and then as a teenager, Josh losses everyone he loves.

I don’t remember the last time a story affected me in this way.  So many feelings are going on while reading their story, I laughed, I cried...almost.  Be warned, this is a tearjerker. If you cry easily, have your tissue handy. You’ll need it.  For me this story was harder to take emotionally than reading about kids with cancer.  Yes, I know that sounds dreadful, but I’m being honest. My tear ducks remained bone dry when I read The Fault in Our Stars, but I must admit, I was struggling to hold it back once or twice with this book.

Synopsis: Diagnosed with Stage IV thyroid cancer at 13, Hazel was prepared to die until, at 14, a medical miracle shrunk the tumours in her lungs... for now.

Two years post-miracle, sixteen-year-old Hazel is post-everything else, too; post-high school, post-friends and post-normalcy. And even though she could live for a long time (whatever that means), Hazel lives tethered to an oxygen tank, the tumours tenuously kept at bay with a constant chemical assault.

Enter Augustus Waters. A match made at cancer kid support group, Augustus is gorgeous, in remission, and shockingly to her, interested in Hazel. Being with Augustus is both an unexpected destination and a long-needed journey, pushing Hazel to re-examine how sickness and health, life and death, will define her and the legacy that everyone leaves behind.

I read this for book club. I would have never picked this up on my own, but I'm glad I read it.  Most of the reviews for The Fault In Our Starts are so very complimentary that I really wanted fall in love with this book like everyone else did.  Don't get me wrong, it's not bad nor is it boring. The book is good. It's actually pretty good, but I seriously missed what was so mesmerizing that mostly everyone else seemed to loved it to pieces.
