Tamara's 2018 Audiobook Recommendations
First up is an audiobook that I literally finished yesterday. I just adored Jeaniene Frost's Night Huntress series. If you've been around for a bit, then you've heard me recommend it over and over. Last month a new spin off series set in this world was published and it delivers! You get all the things you loved about the previous series and more! If you're new to the series, you can start here. You'll be addicted in no time and will want to go back to hear the previous books. Not to mention, one of my all time favorite narrators, Tavia Gilbert, lends her talented voice to this awesome series! This is for the grown and sexy, so be sure to use those headphones!

Next is a series that I've been binge listening to for the last few weeks. A blogger friend and I have been #buddyreading the audiobook version of the Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas. SOOOOO good! Let me tell you. The plot is genius and Elizabeth Evans just kills the narration. It's the perfect combo. We've been doing instagram live chats to discuss each installment after we listen. Each one gets better and better. This series is on the older side of young adult, possibly even new adult. The best part is that the final installment of the series was just published, so you can binge from start to finish! This series is generally safe for headphone free listening.

Clearly I've been on a fantasy binge lately, as my third recommendation is fantasy as well. I recommend Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo. It's the first book in The Grisha Trilogy. A young adult fantasy with very strong world building. Lauren Fortgang brings these characters to life and they just jump off of the page. Not to mention this is the read-along title for the Shelf Addiction podcast right now! I encourage you to join in and listen to this on audiobook. This listen is safe for headphone free listening.

For those of you that want something non-fantasy, I do have a few recommendations.
The Great Alone by Kristin Hannah. It's an adult fiction title, that was a book club read a few months ago and it made for a fun and engaging conversation. A memorable story with dynamic characters and a fabulous narrator! This was my first experience hearing Julia Whelan and I enjoyed her style. While this is an adult story, I do feel that it's mostly safe for headphone free listening. |
My final recommendation is also an adult fiction read. Crazy Rich Asians by Kevin Kwan! If you weren't on the Crazy Rich Asians bandwagon with everyone else, where have you been?! Get on it now. This is a delightful and funny story where the narration really kicks things up a level, Lynn Chen was spectacular and delivered this gem with a flair fit for any Crazy Rich Asian!
Pair this audiobook with the DVD of the movie and you'll have the perfect book to movie adaptation gift! |
