Synopsis: Hunters of the supernatural, the Execution Underground are an elite group tasked with protecting humanity...but what happens when danger collides with desire?

Jace McCannon has one loyalty: the Execution Underground. Despite his mixed blood, his hatred for the werewolves he hunts is legendary. But in his search for a sadistic killer, Jace finds himself face to face with a stunningly seductive packmaster…and longing for a night with his mortal enemy.

Nothing can stop Frankie Amato from defending her kind--or catching the rogue responsible for killing women in her territory. For that, this alpha female needs Jace’s skills more than she wants to admit. But as their investigation exposes evil truths, need burns into a passion that dare not be fulfilled. For to do so will have deadly consequences for them both…

Disclaimer: I received this book courtesy of the author in exchange for an honest review.

I said before that this series is one to watch, and I was right.  Another success from Kait Ballenger.  Twilight Hunter is is the first full length novel and the second story in The Execution Underground series,  The Execution Underground is all about ultra sexy men who are an elite group trained to take out rogue supernaturals.  Twilight Hunter is steamy, exciting, a little dark and fast paced. I read the book over the course of one day.  So that tells you what an easy read it is.

Jace McCannon is a notoriously well known werewolf hunter and he's all about trying to kill a werewolf serial killer.  This is a bad guy of all bad guys.  He mutilates and rapes his victims, it's all very gruesome.  While out on the hunt for this guy Jace stumbles upon Frankie, who also is searching for this low life.  The roller coaster ride that is Frankie and Jace starts there.

Jace is a bit crude, smart mouth, over bearing guy who drinks and smokes too much. He doesn't see like such a great catch from those things, but pair that with a hot body and sexy looks, daddy issues, he's almost the perfect "bad boy". You know the kind, easy on the eyes, great in the sack, but severely damaged.  The only a Alpha female with a strong back bone could handle him. Enter Frankie.  Of course, right on time Frankie's needing happens in Jace's presence and you know what that means.  Hot sex and a newly mated couple with major issues. They don't truest each other.  Jace has severe daddy issues and Frankie is up at arms about her position with her pack as well as being unable to trust thanks to her past.  My biggest issue with Frankie is that for someone so strong and well spoken, she consistently loses her words when it counts, when it comes to Jace anyways. When she needs to speak up and set things straight with him, she goes mute. Every time, how odd.

Throughout the story we got to learn a bit about a few of the other hunters, which is fun because I can tell that each of their stories will possibly intertwine with each other. Dare I say it reminds me of the Black Dagger Brotherhood series by J.R. Ward or the Midnight Breed series by Lara Adrian, except these are (for the most part) human men going after the supernatural.

One thing that I didn't like is that the character Damon from the Shadow Hunter short story, seemed like a totally different person in this book.  Especially since he assembled his team at the end of the last story, I just wasn't clear how he could be one way in there then a total lame ass in this book.  That part was unclear, but that was my only complaint.

As far as the ending goes, I sort of saw it coming, but it didn't take away from my enjoyment of the story.  With that said, you can definitely start this series with this book.  Don't worry if you didn't read the short story Shadow Hunter first, you won't be missing anything story-wise. If you love the paranormal romance, I recommend this book.  If you're new to paranormal romance, I recommend this book!  I'll be awaiting book two, Immortal Hunter, due out in April of next year.

Happy Reading,
~Tamara

Have you read any of the Hanaford Park series by Lisa Sanchez? She has three books written for the series, which include Eve of Samhain, Pleasures Untold, and Faythe Reclaimed. They are really great books, in my opinion.

Thank you so much for the post and giveaway! I'd love to read this book, so fingers crossed. :-)

Best Wishes,
Lindsey V.
