I'm a huge fan of Lara Adrian's Midnight Breed series, so when I learned of For 100 Days and then I got the opportunity to listen to it on audiobook, I jumped at it.  Read my review and find out why For 100 Days earned a 4 bookmark rating! But before you do, watch the interview I did with Lara last fall. She gives me the scoop on this title!

Synopsis:  Pleasure has a price . . .

Just when everything in my life is falling apart, I find a chance to turn it around--to step into someone else's glittering world, if only for a little while. I become someone new, no longer the woman defined by an ugly past, but a woman freer and bolder than myself. A woman who isn't afraid to explore every passion, even at its darkest, with a mysterious and seductive man who believes my mask is real.

Handsome and commanding, enigmatic and irresistible, billionaire Dominic Baine is an obsession I cannot afford and should not risk. He ushers me into consuming new pleasures and addicting new desires, until the line between my real life and the fantasy one I've stolen with him begins to blur.

I know I cannot keep my truth from him. I know my past will not stay buried forever. But before I can make it right, everything comes crashing down. I have deceived this powerful, dangerous man . . . and now there is a price to be paid.

For 100 Days was a treat to read. A sugary and hot treat! It's almost summer and For 100 Days is a perfect book for light and fun reading or listening. I don't read many books in this genre, but I'm always excited to talk about one that does certain types of "who's in charge" romantic situations well, and Lara Adrian did so.  I love a strong leading lady and Avery was that, but when it came to things in the bedroom, she was eventually able to yield to her man Dominic and their interactions in that arena didn't lessen the strength of her character. Which is a win-win in my opinion.
Avery is your average, struggling artist girl trying to make ends meet. She's down on her luck and by chance has come across a golden opportunity- a beautiful and expensive apartment to house sit for when she most needs it. Her character is very multifaceted; she's got a big secret or two and she's struggling with who she is and how much of that she should share. Some of the actions Avery takes aren't the smartest, but I charge it to emotional distress.

Enter Dominic Baine aka Nick, he's definitely your typical alpha guy at first. But I'm happy to say that he's more than what his character first presents. Nick checks all the boxes for his type; brooding, powerful, charismatic, slightly slutty, and of course a billionaire. Nick lives in the same building where he and Avery first meet and the roller-coaster ride begins. Avery and Dominic enter into a game of seductive pleasure. What was meant to be a one night situation, turns into much more.

The secondary characters in this story were a great addition and provided balance. I'm sure I'll be seeing them all again in For 100 Nights. I enjoyed the plot because not only were there highs and lows for both of the characters, but there were also other things going so that the entire book wasn't in the bedroom. I actually bought into the couple and I liked them together. The plot was quick and smart.  Adrian's storytelling abilities shine as she's able to unfold a entertaining erotic romance.

This was my first audiobook listening to narration by Summer Morton. I enjoyed her spin on Avery and Nick. I was fully engaged and found myself actually reacting verbally to Avery when she did something utterly stupid...which was more than I'd like, but it wouldn't have been a story without it. Morton did a wonderful job bringing the characters to life and the heavy sex scenes were well done. No "cheesy" alert here! But I do have a headphones alert.  One day I was listening in my car during my lunch time in the parking lot at work, enjoying the story, then suddenly.....well lets just say I hit that off button really fast. For 100 Days is definitely a headphones required type of audiobook. Take it from me, enjoy this guilty pleasure in the privacy of your headphones. The audiobook has superior audio quality which also made it easy on the ears.

This was a great kickoff to this trilogy.  If you enjoy contemporary romance, that includes lots of heat, then definitely try the 100 Series. You'll surely enjoy it. If you read For 100 Days please comment below and let me know what you thought of it. The review of For 100 Nights is coming soon!
