Synopsis: Can true love ever die?

Julian lives a charmed life in Los Angeles. Surrounded by friends, he is young, handsome, and runs a successful business. Everything changes after he has a fateful encounter with a mysterious young woman named Josephine. Julian’s world is turned upside down by a love affair that takes him—and everyone else in his life—by storm. For the two new lovers, the City of Angels is transformed into a magical playground.

But Josephine is not what she seems and carries secrets that threaten to tear them apart—seemingly forever.

A broken man, his faith in tatters, Julian meets a mysterious stranger who tells him how to find Josephine again if he is willing to give up everything and take a death-defying trip from which no one has ever returned.

So begins Julian and Josephine’s extraordinary adventure of love, loss, and the mystical forces that bind people across time and space. It is a journey that propels Julian toward an impossible choice which will lead him to love fulfilled…or to oblivion.

Hey Tamara

Lovely to have discovered you through Paullina’s shout on her Facebook page - and great to listen to your interview and blog review. Interesting how Paullina described her time travel parameters and how she wanted her character to walk lightly on other times. I think she nailed that really well. And all the research she had to do for each era - I can well understand how involved that must have been to get all that right.

As per your review, and having read all of Paullina’s adult books, I found these main characters the least likeable to date and I’m not a fan of insta-love so I really struggled to get into this book, and feel and hope for the characters.

It seems that Paullina has a lot more heartbreak in store for these two and she does heart break really well. The ‘earned their ending comment’ was interesting. For me I get a sense that this is ultimately a happy ending… but Paullina can keep you guessing ;-) (A Song of Daylight comes to mind.) I’m not sure I’m going to stick with this series because of Josephine in the 21st century already being an “advanced soul”, it creates a conundrum as to how she can be more likeable ‘before.’

I’m not sure this is a book for die-hard fans (or maybe there’s an age divide within the die-hard fan community)… Perhaps it’s a great book for new fans.

But on the hugely positive side for you: There is The Bronze Horseman series and Girl in Time Squares books for you to devour. What a reading paradise you have ahead of you!

Enjoy!
