Who would have thought that music and a heist themed movie would go so well together. Imagine a crime/action movie paired with high-speed car tricks and great music. This movie was a delightful surprise. It also had moments of humor and tragedy which made for well rounded characters. Watching the trailer, I wasn't sure what I was in for. When the movie started with all this music and choreographed moves, choreographed driving, and fighting it was a surprise and I didn't see it coming. My knee jerk reaction was that it was cheesy, then suddenly without me even realizing it, I really got into it and I enjoyed it immensely.
Baby Driver is directed by Edgar Wright, responsible for blockbusters like Ant-Man, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, and more. He brings his unique take on genre mashing to Baby Driver. With it's amazing soundtrack, engaging characters, and a unique point-of-view, this made for a fun exciting action flick. Between Kevin Spacey, Jamie Foxx, and Lily James, the actors made a well put together supporting cast. I also really enjoyed Ansel Elgort as Baby, he really fit the part.
If you're looking to see a film that's more than the typical summer movie, then definitely give Baby Driver a watch.
