Bound by Flames is the third book in the Night Prince series. For those of you that are new to this series, it's all about Vlad Tepesh aka "Dracula" and his new wife Leila. Their stories take place in the same world as Cat and Bones from the Night Huntress series. Jeaniene Frost is one of my favorite Urban Fantasy/ Paranormal Romance authors, and if you enjoy this genre read on and find why I recommend this series for you.

Synopsis: Leila’s years on the carnie circuit were certainly an education. What she didn’t learn: how to be a vampire, or how to be married to the most famous vampire of them all. Adjusting to both has Leila teetering on a knife edge between passion and peril, and now the real danger is about to begin…
Vlad must battle with a centuries-old enemy whose reach stretches across continents and whose strength equals his own. It isn’t like Vlad to feel fear, but he does…for Leila, because his enemy knows she is Vlad’s greatest weakness. As friend and foe alike align against him—and his overprotectiveness drives Leila away—Vlad’s love for his new bride could be the very thing that dooms them both…
When I started reading this title, I really had forgotten how much of a meat head Vlad is. He's one the most stubborn and old fashion men in paranormal romance, he's actually not to far away from a cave man. Even though I feel that way about him, Leila makes him tolerable and even a little endearing. Leila is a really strong heroine and she needs to be in order to balance out his overbearing nature. I actually think that I liked Vlad more before this installment.
Bound by Flames was one of the more violent books in the series. Leila is kidnapped and tortured in the most horrible ways. Even when in the worst imaginable situation, Leila is able to do what she needs to do to take care of herself, she's no helpless chick. While she's doing what she has to, Vlad is doing everything in his power to find her and of course murder all his enemies while he's at it. He's even enlisted a few other bad ass vampires we know, Mencheres, Bones and Cat. Even after the end of the Night Huntress series, and for those of you that have read that series - Bones and Cat come out of hiding to help their friends. The villain is really horrible, tricky, and twisted so Vlad could use all the help he can get.
From what I've heard, there's only one more book in the Night Prince series and I'm looking forward to finding out how it all ends. I really enjoyed Bound by Flames and it was a refreshing change of pace from all of the young adult titles I've been reading and listening to lately. It's nice to return to the adult side of fantasy! For those that haven't read the other related series, the good thing is, it's not required. This series stands on its own.
Happy Reading,
~Tamara
