Synopsis: Mechanic Mercy Thompson can shift her shape - but not her loyalty. When her former boss and mentor is arrested for murder and left to rot behind bars by his own kind, it's up to Mercy to clear his name, whether he wants her to or not.
Mercy's loyalty is under pressure from other directions, too. Werewolves are not known for their patience, and if Mercy can't decide between the two she cares for, Sam and Adam may make the choice for her...
Mercy is one tough chick, I know I've said that before, but seriously - this woman takes a sever licking and keeps pushing on. This time her downfall was her own sloppy investigating. She barely made it out of this one alive. Toward the end, the story took a very scary and dark turn for Mercy, pretty disturbing actually. It became blatantly clear that she is not a invincible. Some parts are clearly tough to get through, but the payoff in the end makes it a little more bearable.
The narrator is amazing. King and Briggs together make one amazing audiobook. Iron Kissed is the perfect novel for listening because you'll be so enthralled with the story that you won't even notice how much time has passed.
Iron Kissed is proof that each book in the series just keeps getting better and better. I hope that Briggs can keep this pace up for the long haul, because I'm settled in and will listen until the end. If you've already started reading or listening to the Mercy Thompson series, you've got to check out Iron Kissed. You'll be happy you did. If you like a strong female heroine and equally powerful men mixed with urban fantasy and a side of romance, then you'll be happy to add this series to your collection.
Happy Reading and Listening,
~Tamara
