Below is my spin on a typical Q&A. I like to mix in a few fun questions with the more typical ones. Just having fun getting to know the author behind the book!  Thank you Darlene for taking the time to answer them all!

Happy Reading,
~Tamara

Can you tell us a little bit about yourself? I’ve always loved books. Always been a reader. When I was a kid, I used to get on a city bus to go downtown to the main library because the little branch near my home just wasn’t enough. With a degree in Journalism, I started my writing career as a newspaper reporter, then moved to corporate communications, writing and editing employee magazines and newsletters, and industry publications.  I’ve been writing fiction for about three years, and absolutely love it. It’s so much fun to make up people and places and situations.  I’m married and have two awesome kids. One just graduated from college, and one will be going into his senior year of high school. Looking forward to getting them both launched and settled. My daughter is also an avid reader. Took me a while to get up the nerve to let her read my novels, but now I bounce ideas off of her regularly, especially when I need to know the lingo for younger characters.

What do you do when you are not writing?  Now that it’s summer, I’m hoping to spend a little time lounging poolside, sipping an iced tea and reading a good book. I do a little work in the yard, and my social life is lunch out with friends.

What book(s) are you reading right now?  I’ve got two books I’m about to start: Benediction by Kent Haruf and Home Front by Kristin Hannah

Physical books or ereader? Generally, I prefer physical books, but I got a Kindle Paperwhite for Mother’s Day, and I’m starting to
build a digital library. I have to say, it’s kind of nice to download instantly without a trip to the bookstore or library or waiting for shipping time.

Coke or Pepsi?  Neither. I rarely drink sodas, but when I do, it’s a Dr. Pepper. I prefer iced tea (freshly brewed and unsweetened. Tropical is my fav).

What's your favorite book as an adult?  This is a tough one. I’ll try not to let movies influence me because I love Lord of the Rings and Pride and Prejudice (the mini-series with Colin Firth). Thinking of books I read over again: Plainsong by Kent Haruf, Montanta Sky by Nora Roberts, Lake News by Barbara Delinsky.

Name your top five authors: Jane Austen, Barbara Delinsky, Judith McNaught, Barbara Kingsolver, Jennifer Haigh

What's your typical Starbuck’s drink order? Simple coffee, or something more complicated?  Vanilla Latte with whipped cream and a little drizzle of caramel. Yum.

Tell us what you're working on next! Planning to release the first of a small-town trilogy at the end of summer. The first book is done (except for that brilliant back blurb), and I’m working on the second. This is a series about a close-knit group of women and how they stick together and support each other through life’s ups and downs – and with the dynamics of a small-town setting where everyone knows everyone’s business.

Is there anything that you would like the readers to know about this book or you in general? Overall, my books are contemporary dramas that focus on relationships. Unexpected Legacy and Meetings of Chance also have romantic elements. The Women of Whitfield series is women’s fiction. They’re pretty clean, with no graphic sex or violence. And always with a positive ending. I won’t kill off your favorite character or leave you hanging!
Featured Book: Meetings of Chance

Synopsis: She wants her old life back . . . He wants to leave his behind. After her mother’s death, Megan Monroe is convinced her life has been tossed into a high-speed blender. Normal is long gone. While dealing with a grieving father, single-handedly running the family’s floral business and trying to re-shape her own career, she’s suddenly confronted with a troublesome new neighbor and an explosive secret from her mother’s past. She can’t tell her father, and her sister refuses to believe, so Megan presses on alone, forced to carry a secret she didn’t even want to know. Determined to uncover the truth, she finds herself turning to a man she’s not sure she can trust. Tom Blake has fled his city life to escape the publicity of a high-profile divorce. Planning to lie low, he has no intention of being drawn into someone else’s family angst. But he runs into more than he bargained for when he meets his new neighbors. In an unexpected turn of events, he finds himself thrust into the role of confidante and on the last path he wanted to travel – a path that threatens his plans for the future.

"Walking Disaster" by Jamie McGuire is really good as far as contemporary dramas go!
