Book Haul Tuesday

"Book Haul Tuesday” is my (mostly) weekly post where I take a peek at the newly released fiction books of the week and post the books which I've added to my forever growing “To Be Read” list.  I hope to introduce you to some interesting books and talented authors that you haven't read yet.  Hopefully I'll motivate you to run out and pick up a new release or two for your shelf or reader!

In addition to my book recommendation(s), of course, I'll show off any books I've hauled in the last week.  My book haul is all about sharing the books I've added to my lovely shelves, which can be physical or virtual.

What's in my book haul?
  • Books I've  purchase either in a store or online.
  • ebooks I've purchase online.
  • Books, ebooks and audiobooks I've borrow from my local library (hard copies and downloadable content)
  • ARCs and review books (hard copies, ebooks and galleys).
  • Books, ebooks and audio books that I've acquired through giveaways and as gifts.

Book Haul

I picked up several Kindle freebies and received a few books from publishers in the mail.  I even got to the library to borrow a book. Lastly I also purchased a Kindle book as well.

Purchase(s)

Some of the Kindle freebies may still be free, so if they interest you, get it while you can!

I have a pretty long list of books that I want to share with you. It's been several weeks since I've last done a Book Haul Tuesday, so the book recommendations have piled up.

October 1, 2013  releases:

Unbreakable, The Legion Book I, by Kami Garcia (YA Paranormal)- Co-author of Beautiful Creatures. I pretty much liked the book, so I'm interested to see how Ms,Garcia does on her own!

Red Hill: A Novel, by Jamie McGuire  (NA Zombies)- NA Romance writer turned dystopian/zombies?! Okay...you've got my attention. Let's see what this is about.
September 24, 2013 release:

Doctor Sleep: A Novel, by King, Stephen - Follow up to The Shining. What's not to be interested in?
September 17, 2013 releases:

The Dream Thieves (The Raven Cycle #2), by Maggie Stiefvater (YA Urban Fantasy) - I picked this up on Net Galley. I listened to the first book on audio, since I just thought it was okay, I thought to read it instead of listening this time around.

Who Asked You?, by Terri McMillan (AA Fiction) - Got in the mail courtesy of Viking.  I haven't read McMillan in ages. I'm looking forward to it.

Frozen (Heart of Dread #1), by Melissa de la Cruz, Michael Johnston (YA Dystopian) - Love dystopian. I got this through Goodreads First Reads program in August. I've heard good things about these authors so of course I have to check it out!

Book Haul

I won the YA series called, Landon Prep by  Kimberly Reid. These books look so cute and fun. A little Gossip Girl-ish with a teen detective novel twist and a multicultural flare.  Unlike GG, this series isn't laden with drugs and sex.  I love this about these books.I thought my oldest niece would totally enjoy them as she's a tween and loves to read. I had the author autograph them to her.

My Own Worst Frenemy (Langdon Prep #1) | Creeping With the Enemy (Langdon Prep #2) | Sweet 16 to Life (Langdon Prep #3)
I won The Good Boy, by Theresa Schwegel via an Shelf Awareness giveaway. It's a mystery/thriller about a eleven-year-old boy who has an adventure with his fathers K9 police dog. But while they're our running around, the dog's training kicks in and they run into a little trouble that may not end well for him or his father. This looks really interesting, maybe I'll get to this eventually. Who knows, :-) I may gift this one also.

Book Haul

This week I got two new babies in the mail. Thank you St.Martin's Press and Penguin Teen! I was good this week and stayed off of Net Galley!

Accused, by Lisa Scottolini - This looks pretty good. I have not read the previous books, so I may have to borrow them from the library first. It worth checking out if I ever can get through that TBR list!

Frozen, by Melissa De La Cruz, Micheal Johnson - First off this book grabbed my attention me right away because of the writing team. I haven't read many books (if any) written by a man and woman. Plus the synopsis sounds really good! Who doesn't love YA Dystopian?

Only one book was on my radar for this week and that's Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea, by April Genevieve Tucholke (YA Horror).  I love this genre, it's always fun to read.  This was on my most anticipated book list for this year. I actually tried to get this on NetGalley a few months ago, but they told me the quota for this book was filled.  :-(

What an awesome title and cover art. It looks like this one is going to be good! I hope it's a bit scary. The synopsis makes me think this will be even better than Anna Dressed in Blood! We shall see.
